Real Time Clock
Un real-time clock (RTC) è un componente usato principalmente per consentire a un sistema digitale di monitorare costantemente il tempo su una scala relativa alla percezione umana. Di norma, operano a velocità notevolmente più lente e consumano molta meno energia rispetto a un clock generico. Il consumo di energia è spesso l'aspetto più importante di un RTC poiché gli è solitamente richiesto di funzionare per periodi prolungati di tempo usando un piccolo alimentatore portatile, come una batteria a bottone o un super condensatore, quando la parte restante del sistema è spenta.
